Boundaries: to the NE and SE with Oman, to the E with the Gulf of Oman (Indian Ocean), to the W and S with Saudi Arabia and to the N with the Persian Gulf.

Capital: Abu Dhabi. Other cities: Dubai, Al Ain (in the emirate of Abu Dhabi), and the capitals of each of the remaining emirates: Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ajman.

Language: Arabic, although English is widely used.

Religion: Islam.

Currency: Emirati dirham.

AED = Arab Emirati Dirham (with fixed parity with the US dollar = 3.67 dirhams).

Form of State: Federation of seven emirates. Administrative division: Seven Emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ajman.
